Il tempo a Barbados e il periodo migliore per andarci

Barbados

The weather in Barbados is tropical. The temperature averages 30 °C throughout the year and the sun warms the mainland for about 3 000 hours a year. Barbados' climate is influenced by pleasant north-easterly winds.

Sea temperatures range from 26-30 °C.

During the year, the dry season (December-May) alternates with the rainy season (June-November). Barbados lies on the edge of a hurricane zone and is not as prone to catastrophic consequences as other Caribbean islands. The potential for hurricanes prevails from June to September, but the eye of a hurricane strikes Barbados very rarely, on average once every 30 years.

What are the best months to visit?

Consistent weather with the least rainfall and most pleasant temperatures between 29 and 30°C prevails from December to May. During this period it showers on average once every 3 days, usually in the evening or at night. The rain can be very heavy and start without warning. However, it usually lasts between 2 and 10 minutes.

In addition, it rarely rains all over the island, but only in narrow, circumscribed bands.

When is the rainy season in Barbados?

The heaviest rains come in early August and the wet season ends at the end of November. During these months it can rain up to several times a day, but usually these are still only short heavy thunderstorms lasting up to 30 minutes.

All-day overcast skies are definitely more frequent than in winter, but even so they are relatively few: 2-3 times a month on average.

Are there hurricanes in Barbados?

Yes, but considerably less than on the more northerly and westerly Caribbean islands. Barbados lies a little off the main hurricane belt.

The hurricane season runs from August to November. On average, however, a hurricane directly hits Barbados once every 15-30 years. Tropical storms and hurricanes often pass within 20 to 100 miles of the island, but do not usually do much damage directly to Barbados.

Weather and temperatures during the year

This is what the weather in Barbados looks like during each month of the year.

Weather in January

January brings the high season to Barbados with very brief occasional showers (mainly at night) and partly cloudy or clear skies. Temperatures normally hover around 29°C, tempered by a constant breeze, especially on the south and east coasts.

Sea water temperatures are around 26 °C.

Weather in February

February's climate is conducive to uninterrupted holidays. Air temperatures hover around 29 °C and the humidity is the lowest of the year, which, combined with the constant breeze, makes being outdoors very pleasant.

There is very little rain during February. It occurs sporadically in the evening or at night, in most cases in the form of short 10-minute showers.

The sea warms up to 26 °C.

Weather in March

During March, Barbados has ideal conditions for a holiday. March sees the least rain of the year and only sporadic 10-minute showers during the night and evening.

Skies are clear or partly cloudy for most of the day, with only occasional clouds towards evening, but only for a few dozen minutes.

Temperatures are between 29 and 30 °C, while the sea water is around 26 °C.

Weather in April

April weather in Barbados is no different to winter and there is virtually no chance of it being anything other than clear or partly cloudy with temperatures around 30°C throughout your stay.

Heavy rain showers keep the vegetation lush green, but as they occur almost exclusively in the evening or at night for no more than 20 minutes, they don't affect a relaxing holiday.

Weather in May

Even May can still be classified as a high season month in Barbados. Although rainfall is higher than in previous months, it still showers usually at night and more rarely during the day.

The air temperature does not vary much, hovering around 30 °C, while the sea water temperature rises to 27 °C.

Weather in June

The wet season starts during June, but if you can find a cheap flight for this date, don't worry about going to Barbados.

In June, it rains about every other day in the form of heavy half-hourly showers, which occasionally occur during the day. Temperatures stay in the 30s and humidity rises, so being outdoors is not suitable for sensitive individuals.

Weather in July

With long days, July is the month with the most hours of sunshine in the year. Although clear skies are broken by clouds every afternoon, followed by a short, heavy shower, you don't have to worry too much about long-lasting rain.

Temperatures soar to 31 °C every day and humidity is quite high, but the constant year-round wind does make being outside more pleasant.

Weather in August

August is a hot, humid month with frequent heavy showers (1-3 times a day), but these usually last only a few minutes due to the winds. In August, the temperature varies only minimally, hovering around 31 °C throughout the month.

The sea water is up to 29 °C.

Weather in September

The rainy season slowly peaks in September, and in rare cases there is also the threat of hurricanes or tropical storms. In reality, however, catastrophic events tend to avoid Barbados and hit the island about once every 20-30 years on average.

However, storms can still be strong and occur every day. However, they are usually only in the afternoon or later in the evening and do not last long.

Even during September, the sun shines for most of the day and completely overcast skies lasting more than a few hours are rare.

Weather in October

October is the rainiest and warmest month of the year. Severe thunderstorms often occur every evening, sometimes even several times a day, but even in October there are no prolonged showers.

Steady winds blow even in autumn, so clouds and rain quickly - within 30 minutes at most - blow away again. Temperatures average around 31 °C and the humidity is very high.

If you don't mind being blown out of the sea by the occasional thunderstorm for half an hour, head to Barbados in October. This is the month when accommodation prices are at their lowest and the hurricane season common in other parts of the Caribbean is less likely.

Weather in November

November is the last month of the rainy season and differs little from October. The rain is frequent and heavy, but very brief, with sunny or partly cloudy conditions and high temperatures of around 30°C in between.

The sea is also warm, warming up to 28 °C.

Weather in December

December is a transitional month between the rainy season and the high season, but because of Christmas, this is already the month when prices for all services are at their highest.

The weather is good for hiking and lazing by the sea. Rainfall totals are quite high, but concentrated almost exclusively in short 20-minute showers that occur in the evening or at night, and not yet every day.

Air temperatures rise to 29 °C and sea temperatures to 27 °C.

Quando andare a Barbados

The best time to visit Barbados is from December to May. This is when you will experience the least rainfall and the most sunny days on the island.

However, Barbados is one of the few Caribbean islands you can visit year-round without too much worry. Especially between July and November, high humidity and high temperatures are to be expected, but the sultry weather is tempered by the constant wind.

It also rains significantly more in the summer and autumn than in the winter and spring, but in the vast majority of cases these are brief (up to 30 minutes) showers, although they can be very heavy.

The greatest risk of hurricanes and tropical storms is from August to November, but Barbados is already outside the main hurricane belt and therefore a similar natural disaster occurs directly on the island on average once every 30 years.
